My interview with Leigh Ann Lunsford

Publié par Léatitia

Hi there !

It's a real pleasure for me to share my interview with Leigh Ann Lunsford. In honnor of the release of her last novel, I got the chance to send her questions and so here I am with an interview I love ! Brisé became one of my favorite books and I can't wait to read more books from this talented and so nice author.

Enjoy !

Leigh Ann Lunsford

About the author (from Goodreads)

Leigh Ann Lunsford is stay at home mom turned author. She writes Romance/New Adult and loves her happily ever after in all books and movies. She lives with her husband, son, and four dogs in Fleming Island, Florida. When she isn’t writing or reading you can find her stuck in front of really bad reality shows or watching Sons of Anarchy. Leigh Ann has a filthy mouth and a huge amount of sarcasm that knows no end. She hopes to give the voices in her head an outlet with many more novels to come.

1) My first question for you is something I always love to know about authors : how did you know you wanted to be a writer? Tell us, what is your story?

I’ve always been more vocal on paper. From as far back as I can remember I would write down what I wanted to say. When I was struggling, angry, upset… I wrote it down. Sometimes in the form of a letter, sometimes in journals. I’m a very emotional person and I convey my feelings better with words. In high school I started taking Creative Writing and each day I looked forward to that class, my teacher was very encouraging. I’m also an avid reader, so that helps.

2) What do you love the most about writing? What is the hard part? And why do you chose/prefer to write Romance?

I love learning about my characters as I write; their flaws, their dreams and aspirations. It is like I am meeting a new friend.

The hard part is putting yourself out there. These books become a part of us, and even though it isn’t personal, sometimes it is.

I love Romance. There is enough bad in the world that I crave my happy ending. Whether the characters end up together or learned a lesson through their struggle, it’s a happy ending.

3) What is the most fun or/and the most complicated about writing in general ?

The most fun is the interaction and friendships I have developed. I’m a stay at home mom, introverted, so sometimes the social media interaction is all I get.

The most complicated is the self doubt. You want to talk yourself out of it, you want to push through, but it’s always there.

4) So far, how do you think being a published writer changed your life?

I’m much happier in general. I have an outlet for my passion, I’m doing something that challenges me and pushes me but yet fuels me.

5) Regarding all of the books you've written and published, which one are you the most proud of ?

UGH, please NO !!! Not Enough. It was my first book, the start of a series and I tackled some issues throughout them. I did it, I learned, and I published. Love it or hate it that can never be taken from me.

6) About Brisé, where did you find inspiration?

Music. I knew I wanted a ballerina type in my book, I love it. I listened to a certain song and the beat in it, not the words, brought the entire storyline to the forefront and I dove in.

7) Now, how would you describe your two main characters with only three words ?

Survivors, lost, dreamers

8) In Brisé, is there a character you identify to? Do you have a favorite one?

Phoebe for sure. For both of those.

9) Last question : what could you advice to an “aspiring writer”?

Write. Some days it will suck or not flow, some days it pours out of you. You can always re-write, edit, start over but if you don’t start you will never finish. Write for YOU and nobody else.

A big MERCI to Leigh Ann for answering my questions. If you want to check all of her books, it's here. And my review of Brisé is here on my blog too. Go read it, you will fall for this book too ! I'm sure !

Thank you and happy reading !
