He stops searching. She begins looking. Can they ever set one another free, or does fate have something else in store for them?
Wonder why I love this book so much? It's a heart breaking love story, so intense !
Another reason for you to love Brisé is the two POV ! Luke and Phoebe's voices will wake up something in your heart. It is INTENSE and BEAUTIFUL !
I loved reading this book so much ! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm so happy I "met" the talented and nice author Leigh Ann Lunsford. I'm telling you, this is not the last of her books I'm reviewing. It's my pleasure to share about her last book release.
There is a lot I loved about Brisé ! But before, what do you think of the book cover? I want to call it a artwork ! Just like the blurb, I fell for it. And I wasn't disappointed when I read this beautiful story. I already loved the book before reading it but only after 5 chapters, it became one of my favorite of 2015. I will always keep Luke and Phoebe's story in my heart.
"The first time he promised to be my hero, I fell in love with him, and that feeling has never gone away. Sometimes words can be so insignificant, but not those words, not coming from Luke. They breathed life into my soul, they mimicked every action he had done for me the past thirteen years, and they helped heal me. A little piece of me(...)"
First thing you need to know is that this book was INTENSE to read. Really ! Not because of actions but thanks to a rollercoaster of emotions and key moments. After just a few lines, I cared so much about the two main characters. I just wanted to be with them as their journey started and though it was sometimes sad and painful, I loved sharing their boat. The writing was beautiful, genuine, efficient and perfect. Really, I enjoyed every pieces that completed a compelling and moving story. Sure, I wished some of the hardest and sadest moments could be erased because it was difficult to read about Luke and Phoebe's pain. But as I put myself in their shoes, I could relate on their feelings and understand them.
This is another thing I love about Brisé : the writing is so powerful, you have no choice but to feel something too.
Brisé is also about life. I mean that it's not only a love story, it's thought provoking. As a 21 years old, I experienced something really deep. Phoebe's situation and Luke's hopes made me question things I usually don't think about. Phoebe walked through hell but even after the worst, I could find in her strengh. Same for Lucas. They were both kind of inspiring, just like the whole book, of course.
The romance in this novel was "balanced" and felt right all along. It was never too much and I had everything I wanted ! There were chemistry, laughters, what I could call a "sexual bliss" and beautifully written dialogues. I mean, come on ! Luke was hot and sweet, irresistible and sooo touching ! He played guithar and sang songs to the love of his life. I didn't need much and I could forget about his bad sides.
"She's tethered to me with an invisible rope, knotted to my soul, tattooed on my heart. There is no letting go. It's physically impossible."
As for Phoebe, Twinkle, I loved her too but understanding her wasn't the easiest part of the book. But in the end, it worked thanks to the powerful writing I just told you about. I think her own story is so brisé and sad (to say the least), it needed more reflexions about it.
"His touch makes my heart flutter, and goose bumps break out on my skin. This feeling never gets old."
Unfortunatly, I can't say much. You will have to find out yourself ! Just know that Luke was a delight and Phoebe was inspiring and moving too. You will want the best happy ending for them, after all, they visited hell, losing each other in the process.
The other characters are also wonderful and endearing. They all brought something in the story, I especially loved Mrs Nichols.
"Love is a verb, Phoebe, not a noun. You need to show that action, not spout off so easily. For one syllable, that's a powerful word, one that has the power to make you or break you. I have seen it do both with each of you."Mrs Nichols (Lucas' mother)
Well, I think that's pretty much all I can say about Brisé right now. I don't think you need the longest review of the world to be convinced to read this amazing and unforgettable story. I really think it's a MUST READ. If you love Romance with a well dosed taste of Drama and if you don't care about shedding tears (yeah, I did cry in public ! Careful, don't read this book without tissues by your side !) Brisé is definitly for you !
